Toyota cars are known for being reliable and durable. However, no vehicle can boast about surviving without an occasional breakdown.
Toyota’s factory warranty provides coverage for workmanship defects and repairs or replacement of necessary material on new and used vehicles when certain parts break down or malfunction within the first few years of purchase.
While many exciting options are considered under the Toyota warranty is contained in the warranty booklet, the manufacturers do not take responsibility for damages openly excluded therein.

#4. Cosmetic Damages

However, it is your responsibility to replace your deformed, discolored, and worn-out car since the replacement of such damages is not covered under warranty.
#5. Damage From Vehicle Misuse Or Neglect
Damage caused by a consumer’s misuse or neglect of a vehicle is not warranted.
Consumers ranging from dealers to the final consumer need to make judicious use of their car, as stated in the Toyota Owner’s Manual.
Maintenance services like oil changes do not come under warranty.
#6. Damage Due To Violation Of Owner’s Manual
Any damage due to the failure of the consumer to observe the specified guidelines contained in the Owner’s Manual is not warranted.
Such damage includes;
#1. Reckless And Competitive Driving:
The Owner’s Manual warns against reckless and/or competitive driving because it could result in loss of lives or property.
#2. Drinking And Driving:
It is dangerous to drink while driving, so the Owner’s Manual cautions against the bad habit.
#3. Car Mis-use:
A misused car is prone to fail or break down prematurely.
Replacement of tires is also not covered under warranty but under a separate warranty from the tire manufacturer since different manufacturers often produce tires.
The tire manufacturers are therefore requested to offer their warranty.
Apart from the standard warranty, car manufacturing companies offer extended car warranties. As do other manufacturers, Toyota also provides an extended warranty.
However, the Toyota vehicle warranty has few years of coverage.
What Is Included In Toyota Warranty?
Every Toyota comes with a warranty to cover parts that need to be replaced or fixed.
Your warranty starts on the vehicle’s in-service date, that is, the date the car is either delivered to a consumer, leased, or first used as a company car.
To help drivers or car users to a reasonable extent, there is provision for a car extended warranty from the manufacturers. To this end, Toyota offers Toyota an extended warranty.
Toyota warranty, however, covers different areas of a vehicle for respective reasons.
The coverage includes the following.
#1. Basic Coverage
This warranty is also called Toyota’s bumper-bumper coverage. It extends to nearly all parts (mechanical and electrical), aside from certain items spelled out in the booklet.
The warranty covers three years/36,000 miles.
#2. Powertrain Warranty
It includes the component of the car that affect mobility. These include; the engine, transmission, and drive axles. The limited powertrain warranty is effective before 5 years/60,000 miles.
Whereas the lifetime powertrain warranty, as the name implies, extends to an unlimited space provided that you still own your car.
#3. Corrosion Perforation Warranty
Provided the corrosion perforation is not at the dealership outlet, the warranty considers replacing corroded sheet metal body panels in the first 60 months of purchase. This warranty covers for 5years without specific miles.
#4. Emission Control Warranty
This warranty’s duration varies. For example, it covers the fuel tank and exhaust manifold for three years or 36,000 miles, while protecting the catalytic converter and the engine control module for 8 years or 80,000 miles.
#5. Restraint Systems Warranty
This warranty applies to workmanship defects. Suppose you have problems with faulty seat belts or airbags.
This warranty covers 60 months without a specific mile. The warranty covers for five years/ 60,000 miles
#6. Accessories Warranty
Toyota accessories are also protected, given you added them at the purchase time or in a short while after the time of purchase. This warranty covers the accessories for 12 months.
#7. Hybrid Battery Warranty
This warranty covers the hybrid battery, electric drivetrain, and related aspects. In addition, Toyota extended this warranty for 2020 and newer models.
It’s no longer 8 years/100,000 miles but now 10 years/150,000 miles.
What is Toyota Extended Warranty?
If you want to save the cost of overspending on your car after buying it or after the years of warranty are over, then you can purchase a Toyota extended warranty when you buy your vehicle.
It is also called a Vehicle Service Agreement. It is solely your choice to buy any of the plans.
Through the Toyota extended warranty, Toyota makes provision for three service plans. The service plans are available to certify pre-owned Toyota vehicles, whether new or used.
And are sold by dealerships. Such plans include; platinum, gold, and powertrain plans.
You can buy a platinum plan which covers for three years/50,000 miles to 10years/ 125,000 miles, or you can get a gold plan which covers for three years/50,000 miles to 8 years/125,000 miles, or you can also get a powertrain plan which covers for 6years/100,000 miles.
Always look carefully into the Owner’s Manual to take caution where necessary and ensure to look into the warranty booklet, so you don’t take double responsibility for what comes under the warranty.
It is one thing to buy a car and another thing to maintain it. Car maintenance is arguably more costly than purchasing a new vehicle. And in light of the above, car manufacturers offer a warranty.
