How Does The eTorque System Work?

The eTorque is a mild hybrid system technology that works by increasing torque and improving the engine’s performance, activates the auto start and stop, and maximizes the towing capacity and the payload.

Any engine with the eTorque technology replacing the conventional alternator works with a 48-volt battery pack and a belt-driven motor-generator. A battery powers the motor generator.

The eTorque technology helps in conserving fuel with its automated stop-start engine function.

When it detects that the engine is idle and still using fuel, this could result from a heavy traffic jam.

When it’s time for the engine to resume operation, the eTorque system sends up to 90 lb-ft of torque to the crankshaft to ignite the engine.
