The power window motor is a tiny motor with a worm gear attached. The worm gear is a piece of metal having a spiral on one end, akin to a screw.

The worm is joined to a circular gear that has teeth covering the exterior. It looks similar to a cog. As the worm spins, it pushes the gear by joining the teeth with the spiral.

The gear is, in turn, joined to many other spur gears. Spur gears serve as gear reductions in equipment having motors.

The worm is attached to the gear at a particular angle. This action lets the worm spin the gear but inhibits the gear from spinning the worm.

The movement of the gears and worm generates a gear reduction which provides adequate force to rotate things. This force is referred to as torque.

There are aiding bars below every power window, and linked to every bar is an arm. The arm glides along the bars each time the window lifts and drops.

The second end of the arm features a plate having teeth that fit into the gear’s teeth. 

As the gears rotate, the arm follows, which lifts or drops the windows. If the major arm is lifted on the window’s right side, it will lift the other arm on the left.

This mechanism makes sure that the glass uniformly lifts and drops.
