Does Ford Ecosport Have A Spare Tire? (Explained)

You can never be too prepared.

Regardless of where you’re taking a drive to, be it 30 minutes drive to work or you’re on a long road trip to another country, it’s always wise to make sure you prepare for typical problems you could face on the road.

Hence, it would help if you wanted to take all the necessary actions to prepare you and your vehicle for road complications. Of course, ensuring you’ve got a spare tire is at the top of your list.

So, if you’re planning on getting a Ford Ecosport, you should find out if it’ll come with a spare tire.

Unfortunately, Ford Ecosport models do not come with a spare tire. So, unless you get another Ford Ecosport tire to be used as a spare, you may find yourself dealing with flat tire issues on the road with no quick solution. The last Ford Ecosport model that gave you the option of getting a rear-mounted spare wheel was the S trim level of the 2018 Ford Ecosport. So again, you won’t be getting a spare tire for your Ecosport.

Does My Ford Ecosport Have A Spare Tire?

The Ford Ecosport, equipped with a spare tire, is displayed at an auto show.

It depends on the model of the Ford Ecosport you’re using.

In recent years, Ford has traded the rear-mounted spare wheel that its older models came with for a “tire mobility kit,” a feature I’ll discuss later in this article.

So if you’re using a Ford Ecosport model released before 2019, you most likely have a spare tire.

Ecosport’s tradition was to have a wheel mounted at the rear-end of their vehicles; before 2019, that was a stand-out feature of the Ecosport.

It shouldn’t be hard to find if your Ford Ecosport Model has a spare tire.

But, first, check its model information, and if it’s a model released after 2019, you probably don’t have a spare tire, not at the rear-end or anywhere else. Check if Ford Edge Have A Spare Tire?

You shouldn’t feel too bad, though; Ford is aware of the problems that could arise on the road regarding tires.

So if your Ford Ecosport model doesn’t come with a spare wheel, read on as I’ll explain all you need to know about the “tire mobility kit” in this article.

Where Is The Spare Tire On A Ford Ecosport?

Oh, it’s not hiding anywhere. If you can’t see it, there probably is no spare tire for your Ecosport. Traditionally, you should find your spare tire at the rear end of your vehicle.

A casing usually covers it with the same color and design as the rest of your vehicle’s body. That is done so that the tire doesn’t dent the aesthetic appeal of the Ecosport.

It shouldn’t be hard to find, and there’s only one big-round object at the back of your car. Take it off, and you’d see your wheel.

How Do I Use My Ecosport’s Tire Mobility Kit When I Have No Spare Tire?

As I’ve mentioned, Ford isn’t ignorant that tires can go bad while on the road.

There’s a long list of things that can result in you getting a flat or bad tire due to a puncture while on the road.

You not only have to deal with getting stuck on the road as time goes by but also have to deal with the embarrassing attention from fellow road users, the majority of which show no sympathy.

So, is there nothing you can do when you’ve got yourself in a situation like this with no spare tire?

Road Hazard protection is of high importance to Ford; that’s why they’ve provided you with the Ford mobility kit.

The “tire mobility kit” provides you with, hopefully, all you’d need to patch up your tire and get back on the road.

It remains a patch-up, though, so the smartest thing to do is to head to a service station once you’re able to drive again, but if you can’t, the patch should be able to carry you on if you’ll be driving a short distance.

Please note that the “tire mobility kit” is alternatively called the “Tire Inflator and Sealing kit,” don’t get confused when you see it referred to as that. Does Ford C-Max Have A Spare Tire? (Let’s See)

Usage of the kit is divided into two stages, these are:

  • Reinflating the tire with sealing compound and air.
  • Checking the tire pressure

You should have your Ecosport up and running again if you follow the directions within 10 to 15 minutes.

#1. Reinflating The Tire With Sealing Compound And Air

It’s a 13 step process for the first stage, which may seem like a lot of work and complications, but it isn’t.

The steps are broken into 23, so you can clearly understand what you need to do.

Here are the steps:

  • The first step will be to move your car away from the traffic as much as possible; you’re not achieving anything with you and your vehicle in the middle of the road.
  • Put on your car’s Hazard lights. Every driver should know this. It doesn’t matter what the issue is with your car or how far away from the traffic you move it.

Never forget to turn on your hazard lights.
  • Apply your Ecosport’s parking brake, and leave your engine running.
  • You’ll see the warning label on the side of your car’s compressor, remove it, and place it on the instrument panel.
  • Locate the hose and the power plug with a cable; you’ll find this beneath the tire mobility kit.
  • Take off the cap of the sealant bottle but don’t puncture the seal under it.
  • Now you have to fit the sealant bottle into the bottle holder. To do this, remove the orange cap on the bottle holder, then screw the bottle into the holder by turning clockwise.

Note that it’s the top of the bottle you’ll be screwing in.
  • Take off the valve cap of the damaged tire; it should be black.
  • Take off the protective cap on the hose and then fix the hose onto the punctured tire’s valve by screwing it clockwise.
  • Plugin the kit’s PowerPoint into your vehicle’s DC socket, then start the engine and turn on the compressor.
  • Allow it to inflate your tire for less than 15 minutes, and check your tire’s pressure with a pressure gauge. If you do everything correctly, your tire will have enough pressure.
  • All you need to do now is unplug what must be unplugged and unscrew what must be unscrewed. Then, pack up your kit’s materials and place the kit where it should be.
  • Till you’re able to get to a service station, do not drive at a speed above 80km/h

#2. Checking The Tire Pressure

After driving for a while(advisably 4 miles), you should park and confirm that your car’s tire pressure is still good enough to drive safely.

Here are the steps to do so:

  • First, remove the valve cap of the tire you worked on.
  • Next, fit the air compressor’s hose valve stem by screwing it clockwise.
  • Look at your tire’s pressure which will display on the kit’s gauge. If the pressure isn’t enough, repeat the pumping process discussed in stage 1.
  • Afterward, remove the hose from the valve stem and put the valve cap back on.

Leave the sealant bottle connected to the compressor unit and store everything from the kit in your vehicle.

That’s all!
