Cadillac XT6 Video Recorder SD Card Location (Explained)
Manufacturers of modern cars install cameras externally to assist you with driving. That is also true with the Cadillac XT6.
But one common problem owners encounter is finding the video recorder SD card location.
In this article, I’ll be pointing out how you can easily find the SD card slot location in your Cadillac XT6. Please, read on.
For the 2021 Cadillac XT6 surround vision record SD card slot, you can find it in the trunk on the driver’s side. You must insert it with its face down, or else it won’t work. You should use a 32GB SanDisk SD card. Even though the owner’s manual recommends a 64GB SD card, unfortunately, only a 32GB SD card works.
Where Is the SD Card Slot Located?
On the Cadillac XT6, the SD card slot is quite difficult to locate. However, you can find it faster from the hatch area of your vehicle.
The video recorder SD card location is on the driver’s side, at the back of the 3rd-row seat in the cargo.
So on the driver’s side of your vehicle, sit in the 3rd row, and you’ll find the SD card slot at the back rear corner, on the left side.
Note that you should insert the SD card with the contacts facing up and the label facing down. That is, insert it upside-down.
Then, when you insert the SD card and your car is running but on park mode, go to the screen and access the recorder icon.
To record, you should follow the instructions on the manual, and a tiny red dot will emerge on the screen to confirm that the vision camera is recording.
It records the front, sides, and rear in 5-minute increments files by time and date while the vehicle is on and/or driving.
The oldest files automatically rewrite if you don’t save them using the same recorder icon on the screen.
It’s important to note that the SD card slot at the center console is not for the vision recorder but for navigation.
Additionally, you should remember that if something happens while driving, you’ll have to come to a halt and place the car in park mode before you can access the files to save them.
Some of the video recorders on the 2020 Cadillac XT6 cars have faulty recorders.
You may need to get a replacement from your car dealer. Some users also complained of a ‘No SD card found’ problem with their Cadillac XT6.
However, this problem springs from the module and will resolve with a replacement.
Cadillac XT6 Video Recorder: General Functions and Features
The surround vision, front vision, and rear vision camera features enable you to notice and avoid things you ordinarily won’t notice around your car when driving in low-speed driving conditions and parking.
The cameras are found close to the front grill on the lower part of both side-view mirrors and the rear of the vehicle.
Further, the high-definition surround vision shows a high-resolution, top-down image of the immediate surrounding area of your car.
When you enable the surround vision display camera, this view is shown automatically together with the rear or front vision as a quick high-definition surround vision.
The surround vision also allows the driver to select the most preferred views by pressing the camera view buttons on the infotainment display.
In addition, the front and rear junctions help you see to the right or left during a rear or front cross-traffic situation.
Finally, the rear and front overhead views may help you when parking, such as when pulling close to a curb or wall.
The front and rear bowl views help you see your vehicle’s front and rear in the surrounding area when parking next to other cars or structures.
Also, the side, forward, and rear views enable you to view the sides of your car relative to other objects, like when parallel parking.
And the rear and front perspective views help you see obstacles directly in front of or behind your cars, such as when entering or exiting your garage or driveway.
Vehicle path guidelines are also during certain conditions, and you can turn off this feature by pressing the guideline on/off button on the infotainment display.
For example, your front aspect shows automatically when shifting from reverse to drive.
The car also comes with a front park assist. Front views are displayed when an object within one foot of the bumper is detected.
You need to know that the camera features have blind spots outside the camera’s field of view, which are below the bumper, under the vehicle, and near the corners of the vehicle.
So, never drive using only the cameras and always look around the vehicle when driving.
Additionally, continue to look out and scan around the vehicle during low-speed driving.
As you are driving, keep in mind the apparent distance of objects as judged from the camera view may be different from the actual distance.
Conclusion
The Cadillac XT6 video recorder SD card location is in the cargo area on the driver’s side.
You can best locate it in the third row on your left side around the hatch area.
Even though the owner’s manual recommends a 64GB SD card, what works is the 32GB. Finally, remember to insert the card face down.
