Does Cadillac XT6 Have A Spare Tire? (Let’s Find Out)

Spare tires are our lifesavers when any of our running tires calls it quits.

With no spare tire, you could be stranded in the most unlikely of places; hence, road safety officials make it a paramount item you must have.

Therefore, it is important to know if the vehicle you want to buy has one; you can always buy one if they don’t.

But how does the Cadillac XT6 fare in this regard?

The Cadillac XT6 comes with a compact/temporary and full-size spare tire. Compact spare tires help you keep moving in the unfortunate event of a blowout, a flat tire, puncture, cut, or other road hazards. In contrast to full-size spare tires, compact spare tires help save space in a vehicle’s trunk and are lighter.

Do Cadillacs Come with Spare Tires?

Cadillac’s media site stated that the 2019 ATS comes with run-flat tires on every model.

That means there is no tire sealant kit or a spare tire for this model. Modern Cadillacs don’t come with spare tires.

The absence of spare tires results from car manufacturers’ efforts to help meet new fuel efficiency standards and ultimately make the vehicles lighter.

Many vehicle manufacturers, Cadillac inclusive, have stopped shipping cars with spare tires, even temporary compact spares.

Modern Cadillacs instead come with a tire reinflation kit.

You’d find the reinflation kit under the floor lid of your Cadillac’s trunk, exactly where a spare tire ought to be, quite ironic if you ask me.

The kit is a simple one; it consists of an air compressor with built-in hoses, sealant, and power cables.

You cannot overlook the efficiency and functionality of the kit, but it’s by far not a replacement for a spare tire.

The kit won’t even work if a tire has only 2/32 inch thread left.

However, if your tire has a puncture, you’d have to replace it.

I’ll advise you to replace run-flat tires; they’re not something you’d want to wait for long to fix. I’ll also advise you not to patch or plug them.

Here is a detailed guide on how to use the reinflation kit.

  • Stop your car immediately: as soon as you notice your car has a flat tire, look for a safe outdoor vicinity and park on a flat surface.
  • Remove the kit from underneath the trunk’s carpet.
  • Plug the hose unto the valve of the tire and screw it tightly.
  • Attach your compressor to an accessory power socket.
  • Make sure to start and keep the engine running during this whole process.
  • The switch is at sealant/air.
  • Switch on the inflator. Until the unit finishes pumping sealant into the tire, the pressure will seem higher than it is. After which, the pressure would drop and eventually rise as you pump air into it.
  • Pump until the pressure gauge shows 33psi. Then, stop pumping from time to time to check the gauge, so you don’t exceed the mark.
  • Keep the kit and tools back underneath the carpet in your trunk.
  • You’re ready to go. As you drive, the motion helps distribute the sealant evenly.

Note: If the tire seems not to reach 33psi or keeps deflating, the tire is beyond repair, and only a replacement would suffice.

Does the 2021 XT6 Have a Spare Tire?

The 2021 XT6 has a compact spare tire.

It is a 3-row premium luxury SUV designed as a cross-over of the rather huge and expensive Escalade and the 5-passenger XT5.

The 2021 model has just two trim levels, premium luxury and sport.

A compact temporary spare tire is not a replacement for your punctured or deflated tire.

Therefore, it would be best to replace it with a fixed or new tire as soon as possible.

In addition, you should not use compact temporary spare tires for long; doing so might cause problems with your wheel alignment.

Under the hood of the 2021 XT6 Cadillac, you’d find a powerful V6 3.6-liter engine that produces 319 hp connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission, giving your wheels the speed they deserve to navigate the road.

In addition, the 2021 XT6 Cadillac comes in a standard front-wheel drive (FWD) and an optional all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Therefore, it deserves healthy tires for optimum performance.

Does the 2020 Cadillac XT6 Come with a Spare Tire?

The 2020 Cadillac XT6, like its successor, also comes with a compact spare tire.

While this model only offered premium and sports trims, its 2021 successor offers the addition of the new entry-level- Luxury trim level.

It also has the full Cadillac Y-trim level strategy.

When running on the Cadillac’s compact spare tire, maintain a safe speed.

The compact tire is only a temporary substitute until you fix your tire and should not run over long distances.

In addition, you could get a full-size tire as a spare for your XT6, but carrying this around would negatively impact your fuel efficiency.

Cadillac XT6 Spare Tire Location

You can find the spare tire of your Cadillac XT6 underneath the trunk of your car.

To access the spare tire of your Cadillac XT6, open the liftgate;

The liftgate is a thick carpet underneath your car’s trunk, lift the load floor, and remove the cargo management system tray; you do this by pulling the handles.

You’d find your spare tire and the tools to fix them there.

Further, this location is standard for all trim levels of the XT6 and is designed to fit only compact tires.

Thus, if you desire a full-size tire for your XT6, you should prepare for the inconvenience of finding a different location, such as the vehicle’s trunk.

What Size Tires Are on a 2020 Cadillac XT6?

It is important to know every detail about your wheel and tire size to buy the right one for it when buying tires.

Wrong sizes can cause defects to the wheel and cause quick wear and tear for the tire.

In addition, it would also increase the chances of road accidents as the wrong tire size brings about control and stability issues.

The Cadillac XT6 has tire sizes of P235/55R20 or P235/65R18. Below is a detailed wheel and tire size for each model of the 2020 Cadillac XT6

Conclusion

Spare tires were indispensable in the automobile world.

Still, today,  most auto-makers are now producing vehicles without them but with great alternatives such as run-flat tires, tire inflation kits, etc.

However, if you prefer having a spare tire and do not mind its effect on your fuel consumption, you can get an extra tire from an auto shop.
