How Do I Know If My Jeep Patriot Is A Sport Or Limited?

When it comes to getting one of the most affordable SUVs on the market, the Jeep Patriot is an excellent choice.

Apart from being known for its affordability, it can handle itself no matter the road or weather condition while providing a more pleasant and luxurious ride.

The Jeep Patriot has the Latitude, Sport, and Limited trims. So, how do you tell if your Patriot is a Sport or Limited model?

Unless removed earlier, Limited and Latitude trims have nameplates on the rear side of the vehicle. It’s not a Limited model if your bumpers have the body color; it is either a Jeep Patriot Sport or Latitude. Heated front seats, air conditioning, power windows, and locks are standard on Latitudes. However, they do not come factory-fitted in the Sport trim.

How to Differentiate Between Jeep Patriot Sport and Limited?

Jeep Patriot Is A Sport Or Limited

The level of internal comfort and convenience items are the main distinctions between the Jeep Patriot models.

You’ll need to upgrade to the Limited to get heated leather seats, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and other features.

However, all Patriot models now come with air conditioning, wheel-mounted audio, fog lamps, cruise control, and other power accessories.

To help you differentiate between both trims, let’s take a closer look at the Jeep Patriot.

#1. Features of the Jeep Patriot

Sport, Latitude, and Limited are the three trim options for the 2014 Jeep Patriot. Front-wheel drive and four-wheel driving systems are available for each car’s trim.

The 2.0L I4 DOHC 16-valve Dual VVT engine in the front-wheel-drive of the Sport and Latitude versions develops 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque.

The 2.4L I4 DOHC 16-valve Dual VVT engine that makes 172 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque comes on the front-wheel-drive for the Limited model and all four-wheel-drive Jeep Patriot models.

You can also choose from the five-speed manual, six-speed automatic transmission, or continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The 2014 Jeep Patriot has a long list of safety features matching its powerful performance. All trim levels come standard with

  • Head restraints,
  • Advanced multistage front airbags,
  • Front seat-mounted side airbags
  • Tire pressure monitoring system
  • Supplemental side-curtain front and rear airbags,
  • Electronic stability control
  • Hill-start assist

Depending on the model, the 2015 Patriot offers leather or fabric options. In addition, heated front seats are available.

Finally, a motorized sunroof is available for those who prefer to bring the outside in.

Underneath the Jeep’s attractive looks is a wealth of technology and capability. A four-cylinder 2.0-liter 158-horsepower engine powers the 2015 Jeep Patriot.

The World Engine four-cylinder 2.4-liter engine with 172 horsepower is an optional upgrade. A five-speed manual and Jeep’s CVT2 six-speed automatic transmission are available.

There are three different drive options available for the Patriot. First, the Jeep’s Freedom Drive I; is an alternative to the traditional rear-wheel drive.

In tough terrain and slick conditions, this provides a lot of versatility.

There are no noteworthy changes for the 2017 Patriot. Important Available Options include;

  • 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 172 horsepower
  • Transmission: six-speed automatic or continuously variable automatic
  • Front-wheel drive
  • Leather-trimmed seats, upgraded four-wheel-drive system
  • Bluetooth compatibility
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated power-adjustable side mirrors
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel

Pros and Cons of the Jeep Patriot

Though I have outlined numerous attractive features of the Jeep Patriot in all trims, it is worthy of note that this model also has its downsides.

Besides, it is a machine and so is prone to imperfection.

Below I will impress the advantages of the Patriot, which gives it an edge in the automobile market, immediately after which I will outline so drawbacks of this Jeep model.

Pros

Below are some advantages of the Jeep Patriot.

#1. Affordability

The Jeep Patriot is very affordable, and anyone with a reasonable budget can acquire one.

This vehicle has several models for a buyer to choose from, depending on what the buyer wants in a car.

As much as people consider the specifications of a vehicle, the next important thing is the price. Therefore, the Jeep Patriot comes in as a good choice.

#2. Convenience

Because of their basic control panel, Jeep Patriots are easy to use. It is a user-friendly SUV that lacks the extra buttons and gimmicks found in many other SUVs.

It keeps the drivers’ attention on the road rather than on the extras. Once you get this vehicle, you can start driving it without first learning how to use it.

Cons

Here are a few Jeep Patriot problems;

#1. Water Leakage

Many owners have expressed their dissatisfaction with this. Rainwater appears to enter the cabin through the roof of the car.

When buying a used Jeep Patriot, it’s good to seal the roof because this can be a big problem.

#2. Discomfort

On rough roads, the Patriot features clunky handling and an unpleasant ride. Also, the Patriot seems shaky at highway speeds.

So, despite its rigid nature, drivers have reported that the Patriot does not assure comfort on challenging terrains.

Because of the Patriot’s poor reliability rating, a certified pre-owned version may be a better option.

In addition, the original engine warranty extends to seven years or 100,000 miles on certified pre-owned Jeep vehicles.

A three-month or 3,000-mile Maximum Coverage Care warranty also comes with certified pre-owned vehicles.

Again, there are mileage and model limits, but it is advisable to read up on the Jeep warranty page for more information.

Types of Jeep Patriot

Jeep Patriot Is A Sport Or Limited

Thus far, I have limited my focus to just two trims of the Jeep Patriot, tagging the third along. However, these are not the only trims of the Patriot.

Here is a complete highlight of the Jeep Patriot trim and what each offers.

#1. Jeep Patriot Sport

The 2.0-liter DOHC engine of this model offers strength, and drivers will enjoy the car’s fuel economy.

The vehicle runs 30 miles per gallon, and the five-speed manual transmission should provide an unrivaled driving experience.

In addition, the Electronic Stability Control system comes in handy because it helps prevent accidents while also ensuring that you stay on track.

#2. Sport SE

The Sport SE trim is a more adaptable version of the Patriot Sport. The rear fascia step pad makes it easier to get into the cabin.

It also has roof rails, which will have a knock-on effect on cargo space since you won’t have to pack larger items into the compact SUV.

This trim level also has heated sport mesh front seats and other comfort options. On chilly mornings, the vinyl-trimmed seats will provide that extra touch of comfort.

Meanwhile, the soft-touch materials on the leather-wrapped steering wheel will ease the vehicle handling.

#3. Latitude

The interior elements distinguish the Latitude from other models.

The Automatic Temperature Control system allows the Patriot’s passengers to adjust the air conditioner/heater to their preferred comfort level.

In addition, the heated premium cloth seats are not only comfy, but they will also keep you warm when the weather is cold.

#4. High Altitude

For Jeep Patriot owners, the High Altitude trim is the best option; this version of the SUV has unique features and conveniences.

For example, the leather-trimmed driver’s chair provides a touch of class to your interior, and the accent stitching adds to the classy vibe.

The driver will be able to select their best seating position thanks to the six-way adjustable seats.

In addition, this vehicle comes equipped with a sunroof that opens with the flip of a switch, and drivers will love the amount of fresh air that flows into the interior.

Jeep Patriot Review – How Well Has It Held Up?

Conclusion

Whether you’re thinking of purchasing or using the Jeep Patriot Limited or Sport, or any of the other models, it’s a great choice for an affordable SUV.

While this car has certain flaws – as do all vehicles – it still is a decent crossover with plenty of unique innovations for the price.

As a result, the Patriot is a good compromise for people who desire a compact SUV.
