The heated steering wheel isn’t a recent invention, but it is an invention that top automobile manufacturers are increasingly using worldwide.

So it isn’t just some fancy piece but a very useful one, especially for drivers who live in areas where they have to deal with low temperatures.

If you’re one of these drivers and the Ford Expedition recently caught your attention, you probably will find information on what type of steering wheel it comes with useful.

Which Models Of The Ford Expedition Come With Heated Steering Wheels?

Heated Steering Wheel

I stated that the Ford Expedition is one of the Ford series that have seen remarkable upgrades in the past seven years.

Does this mean that every Ford Expedition model over the past seven years has come with steering wheels that can be heated up?

Unfortunately, only Ford vehicles of the highest tier like the “Focus” have had this feature installed on every model over the past seven years.

Ford vehicles like the Expedition, which I like to rank as a tier-two Ford vehicle, only have the feature in its most recent models. Which models are these?

Ford Expedition models released in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 come with different features designed to heat various areas of your car if you want them to.

A heated steering wheel is one of these. Ford aims to give you comfort during every moment you spend on the road.

With these new upgrades, you can have your cooled seats heated, steering wheel warm, and a couple more.

I don’t ever see myself heating my seats but if a cold seat leaves you a bit unsettled, know you’ll be getting this feature alongside steering wheels that you can warm up in recent models of the Ford Expedition.

How Do I Turn On The Heated Steering Wheel On The Ford Expedition?

There’s no point in having cool features in your vehicle if you don’t know how to use them.

It’ll also be against the purpose of these technologies if Ford makes it hard for the average driver to benefit from these features maximally.

It’s a good thing that none of these is the case for Ford Expedition, or at least it won’t be when you’re done reading all I’ve provided in this article.

You’ll probably appreciate these technologies even more and make the best use of them. So, how do you turn on the heated steering wheel on the Ford Expedition?

It’s pretty simple. The steps you’ll need to follow to warm up your steering are similar to the steps required to have your cooled seats heated.

So yeah, there’s a lot more to be gained from this article, and in the end, you should have all the knowledge needed to have a comfy drive in your Ford Expedition.

So let’s get right on with it then.

  • First off, you need your vehicle to be running. Though this seems obvious, some people might think they can have their steering wheels heating up with this feature while walking to their car.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. There are other means to do so, though, like using your vehicle’s remote start feature to warm up the entire interior of your car.
  • Turn your attention to your Ford Expedition’s control panel or touch screen when you’ve gotten your vehicle running. Yes, the same touch screen you use to control almost everything else in your car.

  • The next thing to do when your car is running, and the touchscreen control panel is active is to head to your climate control settings. You can do this with just a click of a button.

First, press the button that looks like some sort of thermometer. I know this isn’t the best of descriptions, but I’m pretty sure when you see it, you’ll recognize it.

Next, look at the lowest column of buttons on your screen; it’s usually the second button when counting from the left in most Ford vehicles. Again, I’m sure you’ll find it easy to locate it.
  • Hit the “Menu” button you’ll find once you’ve opened the climate control settings. Yes, it’s a button with a “menu” on it. Just hit the button that has “Menu” written on it.
  • Next up is to locate the heated steering wheel icon. There’s an icon this time around, but as long as you’ve seen a steering wheel before, you should have no problems locating the button, and if you’re reading this, you must have.

So click on the button with a steering wheel icon. It should be on the right side of the screen, the second button when counting from the top to the bottom of your screen.
  • When you find the button, click on it. That should change the color of the heated steering wheel button to red. If you follow these steps correctly, you should slowly feel your car’s steering wheel heat up. And that’s that!

As a bonus, if the heat you’re getting from your steering wheel isn’t enough and you’re one of those folks who’d also want some warmth in their seats, you can get your front and even rear seats heated up.

Once you’ve accessed the climate control settings, locate two buttons that look like a seat getting heated up.

The first button turns on and increases the heat going to your seats, while the second button, or the one under, does the opposite.

How Do I Turn Off The Heated Steering Wheel On The Ford Expedition?

It’s quite straightforward for most Ford Expedition vehicles with this feature. Just click the same button you clicked to turn it on, which will turn it off.

You’ve successfully turned the heated steering wheel off if the button isn’t red.

Conclusion

It can be challenging for some of us to have long drives in comfort due to the cold when winter comes around.

Luckily, in its recent Expedition models, Ford has equipped its vehicles with a couple of features to keep you warm.

With just a few clicks, you can get your steering wheel warming up your hands and even your front and rear seats heated up.

So if you get yourself an Expedition or have one, I hope you find some comfort with these features.
